Siri Elise Magnus-Lagercrantz was born on 28th September 1875 in Gothenburg. She was a Swedish painter and illustrator - specialising in woodcuts.

Magnus-Lagercrantz attended Valands Målarskola (1892) where she studied under Carl Larsson (1853-1919) and at the Konstnärsförbundets Skola, a private art school in Stockholm run by The Artists' Society (Konstnärsförbundet). She also attended the Académie Colarossi, Paris; Münchner Künslerinnenverein (Munich ArtistsÂ’ Association School), Munich and studied with the Danish artist Max Kleinsorg (1866-1914) in Copenhagen.

Magnus-Lagercrantz was on of the pioneers of the modern woodcut in Sweden and a founder member of Föreningen Original-Träsnitt (Association of Original Woodcuts)

Magnus-Lagercrantz first exhibited at Göteborgs Konsthall, Gothenberg (1931) and participated in group exhibitions with the Association of Swedish Female Artists (Föreningen Svenska Konstnärinnor) - An artist group formed in Stockholm in 1910. Early group exhibitions included the Royal Academy (Konstakademien), Stockholm; Vienna (1913) and the Baltic Exhibition, Malmö (1914)

Examples of Siri Magnus-Lagercrantz's work held in the collections of the Moderna Museet (Museum of Modern Art) and Nationalmuseum (National Museum), Stockholm; The British Museum and V&A, London and the National Gallery of Ireland, Dublin. Her works were included at the Göteborgs Konsthalls 'Jubileumsutställningen' (1960) and Norrköpings Konsthall (2006) exhibition 'De Berömda oh de Glömda. Kvinnliga Svenska Modernister 1900-1930' (The Famous and the Forgotten. Female Swedish modernists 1900-1930).

Siri Magnus-Lagercrantz died in Uppsala on 17th April 1944, aged 68.
