----------------------------------------------------- This beautifully painted nude study is typical of Thomson's work in the mid 50's. Although the nude was Thomson's primary subject he refered to it as being the `most challenging' of subjects. At the start of his career Thomson painted in a Post-Impressionist style, but by the mid 50's, as in this example, his style tightened and like the work of Cezanne became more Expressionist. His later works became an amalgam of the two. This study is in pristine condition and in its original frame.
