Alf Gunnar ten Siethoff was born in Java, Indonisia on 20th October 1919. He was a Swedish painter, sculptor and designer.

In the early 1940s Siethoff attended the Edward Berggrens Målarskola (Edward Berggren's Painting School) when it was located on David Bagares street in Stockholm (1933-1975). The school was a private art school founded in 1920 by the Swedish painter and illustrator Edward Berggren (1876-1961) and the sculptor Gottfrid Larsson (1875-1947). The school was essentially a preparatory school for the Academy of Fine Arts so there was a great emphasis placed on life drawing. In 1944 Siethoff married the artist Ylva Margareta Elisabet Ringqvist.

Siethoff then attended Isaac Grünewald's art school (founded in 1941) were he sudied under Grünewald before Grünewald's sudden death in 1946 - Isaac Grünewald (1889-1946) was a Swedish-Jewish expressionist painter widely acknowledged as being responsible for introducing Modernism to Sweden.

Siethoff then attended the Royal Academy (Konstakademien) in Stockholm (1946-1951).

He took study trips to Holland (1948 and 1949) and to France (1962).

Siethoff first exhibited at the National Museum's 'Unga tecknare' exhibition in Stockholm (1947). Other exhibitions include Elsa Lindström's 'Modern Konst i Hemmiljö' (Modern Art in the Home) in Storgatan 48, Stockholm (1949), Galleri Brink - with Gun Setterdahl and Erik Svensson, Stockholm (1950), Halmstad and Linköping (with Erik Svensson) (1951), Gummesons Konstgalleri (Gummesons Art Gallery) - with Inge Fröberg and Olle Langer, Stockholm (1953), The Swedish Art Association Salon, Stockholm (1954), Lycksele - with Lennart Gram and Rune Hagman (1954) and 'Folket till Konsten', Liljevalchs Konsthall, Stockholm (1957)

Public works include a neon light in the main entrance of the SAS office building on Ulvsundavägen in Stockholm (1956), a stylized abstract wall decoration to a bowling alley (Kungsholmshallen, 1959), Wall stencils at Hotell Malmen, Stockholm (1951) and seven (first prize winning) natural stone wall mosaics walls at HSB's residential area in Oxelösund (1965).

Alf Gunnar ten Siethoff died in Stockholm on 5th March 2015, aged 95.
