Leida Rives (Rives-Elfvén / Rives-Elfwen) was born on 21 December 1915 in Tartu, Estonia. She was a Swedish artist, textile and graphic designer.

Rives studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Tallinn, Estonia before attending the Lena Börjesson's sculpture school (Lena Börjesons skulpturskola) in Stockholm. Rives travelled throughout Europe and North and South America. In 1955 she was awarded a scholarship to study at the Art Center School (now the Art Center College of Design) in Pasadena, California.

In 1958, Rives married the Swedish painter and sculptor Eric Ragnar Elfwén (1921-2008)

Rives exhibited in Los Angeles (1952), Bogota and Colombia (1953), and with Eric Ragnar Elfwén at the Sturegalleriet (Sture Gallery) in Stockholm in 1957. Other solo exhibitions include Norrköping and Viästervik (1958) and in Borås (1959).

In 1957, Rives was included in the group exhibition 'Ungt småländskt måleri' (Young Småland painting) which exhibited in Kalmar, Värnamo, Linköping. And in 1959, Rives was part of 'Då och nu. Svensk grafik 1600-1959' (Then and now. Swedish Graphics 1600-1959) held at Liljevalchs Konsthall in Stockholm.

Examples of Rives work are held in the collections of Museum of Modern Art, New York, The National Museum (Nationalmuseum) in Stockholm, the Victoria and Albert Museum, London (1964 Lithograph. Item number E.233-1968) and Jönköping Museum. Public works include a tapestry in the church in Gamleby and a non-figurative enamel work to Tjust Domsagas Courthouse in Västervik.

Leida Rives died in the USA in 1989. She was 73.
