Lars Erik Ture Lidström was born on 6th April 1917 in Stockholm. He was a Swedish artist, designer and sculptor.
Lidström started work as an office clerk at an electrical company. In 1936 he enrolled in evening classes at the Technical School (Tekniska stolen) in Stockholm where he was taught drawing and design. He married Emma Stina Sjölin in 1944.
Lidström attended the Royal Academy of Fine Art (Konstakademien) in Stockholm (1949-1954), where he studied Graphic Art under under the Swedish painter Harald Sallberg (1895-1963). While at the Academy Lidström produced a highly acclaimed student (graphic design) magazine. In 1952 Lidström was awarded a travel scholarship by the academy and studied briefly at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière in Paris and in London.
Lidström exhibited at the Galleri Acté, Stockholm (1947 and 1948) and participated in the National Museum's annual 'Unga Tecknare' exhibitions (1942-1952). He and was included in the 'Föreningen Graphica' exhibition organized by the Nordic Art Association (Nordiska Konstförbundet) in 1954. He also exhibited at the prominent modernist gallery Konstsalongen Samlaren (sometimes referred to as Galleri Samlaren / Gallery Collector), Stockholm (1956), Borås (1950), Lorensberg Konstsalong (Lorensberg Art Salon), Gothenburg (1953), and Föreningen Graphicas, Lund (1955).
Examples of Lidström's works are held the collections of the Moderna Museet (Museum of Modern Art), Nationalmuseum (National Museum) and Nordic Museum in Stockholm, the National Gallery in Oslo, the Museum of Bergen and the Kalmar Art Museum (Kalmar Konstmuseum), Sweden.
Sure Lidström died in 1995, aged 78.
