Alf Gustaf Natanael Lindberg was born in Gothenburg on 26th February 1905. He was a Swedish artist.

Lindberg studied at the Slöjdföreningen Skola (now the University of Design and Crafts), Gothenburg between 1924 and 1927 and the Valand målarskola (Valand Painting School) between 1927 and 1931, where he studied under the Swedish painters Tor Bjurström (1888-1966) and Sigrid Ullman (1888-1960).

Lindberg first exhibited in the mid-1930s at Svensk-Franska Konstgallerietsthe (Swedish-French Art Gallery) exhibition in Stockholm. In 1937 he was part of the Svensk Uställning (Swedish Exhibition) in Oslo and Helsinki (1938). His first solo exhibition was in Gothenburg (1944) and he exhibited in Stockholm in 1945, 1952 and 1953. Other group exhibitions include Gothenburg artists’ exhibition at Liljevalchs Konsthall, Stockholm (1947), Dublin (1951), 'Fem Skulptörer Fem Målare’ (Five Sculptors Five Painters) in 1956 and was included in the Göteborgs Konsthall (1966) exhibition 'Nio Götfeborgsmålare' (Nine Gothenburg painters)

Lindberg represented Sweden at the Venice Biennale in 1954

In 1959, Lindberg was elected as a member of the Konstakademien (The Royal Swedish Academy of Fine Arts) in 1973 and was a member of Gothenburg Art Center and the Artists' National Association (Konstnärernas Riksorganisation)

Examples of Lindberg's works are held in the collections of Moderna Museet (Museum of Modern Art) and Nationalmuseum (National Museum) in Stockholm, the Gothenburg and Kalmar Art Museums and the National Gallery in Oslo.

Alf Lindberg died on 6th March 1990, aged 85.
