John Ivar Berg (1916-2003)

John Ivar Berg was born in Jonsberg, Östergötland in 1916. He was a Swedish painter and designer.

Berg attended the Otte Sköld School of Painting (1938-1939) and the Royal Institute of Art (Konsthögskolan) in Stockholm (1939-1944).

Berg first exhibited with the group 'Sju unga’ (Seven Young) in Malmo in 1942, Häsingborg (1943) and Göteborg (1945). He was included in Liljevalchs Konsthall ‘Bumerangen’ (Boomerang) exhibition in 1948

Berg was a members of the The Salon des Réalités Nouvelles and was selected to exhibit with them in Paris in the 1950s. The Salon des Réalités Nouvelles is an association of artists (and an art exhibition) in Paris, which focuses on abstract art. The exhibition takes place annually in October and ranks among the top Parisian art salons.

Examples of Berg’s works are held in the collections of Moderna Muséet (Museum of Modern Art) and (Prins Eusens) Waldemarsudde Museum in Stockholm.

John Ivar Berg died in 2003, aged 87
