Additional Information

Nils Kölare was a swedish artist. A non-figurative geometric painter, concretist and colourist.

Kölare studied at the Konstfack (University College of Arts, Crafts and Design) in Stockholm between 1953-1957. His first solo exhibition was at the Art Salon Kavaletten in Uppsala in 1963

Kölare exhibited extensively in Sweden throughout his life and was acknowledged with a retrospective exhibition, planned before he died, at the Konstakademien (Academy of Art) in Stockholm in early 2008.

Thomas Millroth, the Swedish art historian, critic and head of Ystads Konstmuseum (Ystad Art Museum) wrote in 1992 that Kölare "was active in the constructive geometric tradition - and he solved it".

Nils Kölare died in Sweden in 2007, aged 77
