Additional Information

Label to reverse reads: 'Communist Ground Fire. Saigon (7AF) - North Viet Nam Anti-Aircraft Fire - This Air Force photo, taken by Lt. Col. Morgan R. Beamer, 49, of Salinas, Calif., in an RF-4C Phantom, shows the intense ground fire faced by US pilots flying missions over North Viet Nam. Composed primarily of small to medium caliber machine guns, the anti-aircraft positions are attempting to defend a staging area about 10 miles south of Dong Hoi. The night photos shows the ground, lighted by a flare, and lines of tracer cutting across the flight path of Beamer's reconnaissance jet. In spite of the intensity of the ground fire, Beamer's aircraft was not hit. He is the commander of the 16th Tactical Reconnaissance Squadron. (Air Force Photo).'
