Label to reverse reads: ‘British Official Photo. B.5655/RN. Liberation of Europe: British Troops capture village near Tilly-Sur-Seulles. After heavy fighting in the andance on Tilly-Sur-Seulles the village of Christot was taken. The village was damaged by heavy shelling. Many snipers were left behind by the germans but British troops were soon able to dislodge them. After the occupation of the village the emeny shelled it. Picture shows:- British troops watching a blazing farm building for possible enemy snipers after they had entred the village of Christot. The Germans put up stiff resistance before abandoning the village.’
