Fighting on the left flank of the British Second Army the Guards Armoured Division captured the town of Berge near Quackenbruck on April 9th. Tho' meeting stiff enemy resistance in this area from the 7th German Parachute Division they advanced to take Cloppenburg southwest of Bremem on April 13th.
