Ivan Jordell 1901-1965

Tord Ivan Jordell was born on 19th July 1901 in Katrineholm, Sweden. He was a Swedish painter of landscapes, cityscapes and portraits.

Jordell attended Skånska Målarskolan, Malmö (1930-31). His first solo exhibition was at the Malmö Museum (1932).

In 1937 he became a member of the Konstföreningen Aura (Aura Art Association)

Jordell exhibited at the Malmö Museum (1940), at the Gothenburg Art Gallery (Göteborgs Konsthall) in 1945 - and again (with the sculptor Nanna Ullman) in 1946 and the Linköping Museum (alongside the artists Martin Emond and Felix Hatz) in 1950

Examples of Jordell’s work are held in the collections of the National Museum and Moderna Museet, Stockholm; the Malmö Museum; Gothenburg Art Museum and Statens Museum for Kunst (National Gallery of Denmark), Copenhagen.

Jordell died in Malmö in 1965, aged 64.
