Gunnar Janser 1919-1989

Gunnar Knut Fredrik Janser was born in Malmö on 17th April 1919. He was a Swedish artist and engineer.

A self-taught painter, Janser travelled to France, Italy and Spain. He married Hillevi Hansson in 1941.

Janser first exhibited at Galerie Acté, Stockholm (1948). Other exhibitions include Galleri Gummeson, Stockholm (1950 and 1952) - Gummeson's Gallery is one Scandinavia's foremost contemporary art galleries. Launched in 1912 by Carl Gummeson, a local book dealer, it quickly forged a reputation for supporting Modern Art. With Konstfrämjandets (People's Movements for Art Promotion) 'Vårpaletten' (Our Palette) 1951 exhibition, with Östgöta konstförening (an art association based in Linköping), SDS-Hallen, Malmö and Nystedts konstsalong, Linköping (1954).

Member of the Konstnärernas Riksorganisation (The Artists National Organization) (KRO).

Gunnar Janser died in Ystad in 1989, aged 70.
