Carl Wetterwik 1910-1949

Carl Herman Emanuel Wetterwik was born on 16th June 1910 in Uppsala. He was a Swedish artist and designer.

Wetterwik attended the Uppsala Technical School (Uppsala Tekniska Skola) before studying under the Uppsala artist Gusten Widerbäck (1879-1970) at Berggren's Painting School (Berggrens Målarskola), Stockholm.

Wetterwik first exhibited Gästrike-Hälsinge nation, Uppsala (1935). Other exhibitions include Hudiksvall and Gävle (1948); Karlstad (1948) and with Torsten Bergmark, Gustaf Fängström and Harald Markson at Östgöta nation, Uppsala (1949). From the early 1930s Wetterwik exhibited annually with the Upland Art Association (Upland Konstförenings)

Following his death on 3rd December 1949, aged 39, a memorial exhibition was held at the Uppsala Konsthallen and at the Färg och Form exhibition space, Stockholm (1950).

Examples of his works are held in the collections of the Moderna Museet and National Museum, Stockholm; Hudiksvall Museum; Uppland Art Association and Uppsala University Library.
