Bengt Crantz 1916-2001

Bengt Ivar Crantz was born in Toarp, Älvsborg county on 25th July 1916. He was a Swedish painter.

Crantz attended Otte Sköld's painting school (Otte Skölds målarskola), Stockholm and took study trips to Italy and France (1948), France and Spain (1949) and Spain in (1951-52).

Crantz first exhibited in Gothenburg in 1944. Other exhibitions include Gothenburg (1947) and Stockholm (1950). He was a member of the Dalslands Konstförenings Konstnärsförbund (now Dalslands Konstnärsförbund) artist group (est. 1935) and exhibited with them frequently from the late 1940s and was involved in their 40th anniversary exhibition at Liljevalchs Konsthall, Stockholm in 1975.

Examples of Crantz's works are held in the collections of Nationalmuseum (National Museum) and the Moderna Museet (Museum of Modern Art), Stockholm and Herman Gotthardt's art collection at the Malmö Art Museum.

Bengt Ivar Crantz died in 2001, aged 84.
