Bernard Munch 1921-2009

Bernard Munch was born in Paris on 6th February 1921. He was a French artist.

Munch studied at Ecole du Louvre, Paris and in the studio of the French-American painter Henri Goetz (1909-1989)

While in Paris, Munch frequently exhibited at the annual Salon dÂ’Automne (Société du Salon dÂ’automne) and Salon des Indépendants (Société des Artistes Indépendants).

Solo exhibitions include Paris (1963) Belfast (1968) and Norrköping (1968); 'Bernard Munch Utställer Oljepasteller', Galleri God Kunst, Linköping (19 April - 3 May 1969); Andrew Dawson Modern Original Prints and Paintings, London (1976); 'Bernard Munch', Galerie Martine Caulier, Paris (1987) and Galerie Martine Namy-Caulier, Paris (1989 and 1991). Other group exhibitions include Montluçon (1962) Collioure (1963) Mont-de-Marsan (1964) and Paris (1969).

Works are held in the collections of Victoria Gallery & Museum, Liverpool, Portsmouth Museums and Gateshead Museum.

Bernard Munch died in Paris on 12th December 2009, aged 88.
