Hugo Hedemann 1903-1995

Hugo Hedemann was born in Copenhagen on 9th June 1903. He was a Danish painter

Up until the mid 1950s, Hedemann worked in the dairy industry on the Danish island Fugen. In 1956, Hedemann studied for a year under the Danish painter Mogens Andersen (1916-2003) and first exhibited at the Artists' Autumn Exhibition (KE / Kunstnernes Efterårsudstilling), Copenhagen in 1959.

Hedemann exhibited regularly throughout his career. Notable solo exhibitions include the prestigious Henning Larsen Gallery, Copenhagen (1961); Odense (1962-63); Birkerød (1962, 1964); Meyers Galleri, Esbjerg (1964); Søllerød (1970); Vejen Kunstmuseum (1971); Odense (1974, 1979). Group exhibitions include ArtistsĀ’ Summer Exhibition (KS / Kunstnernes Sommerudstilling), Copenhagen (1960); Artists' Autumn Exhibition (KE / Kunstnernes Efterårsudstilling), Copenhagen (1961-63); Cromisterne (1964); Odense (1964); 'Fynske MalereĀ’ Vejen Kunstmuseum (1981), Charlottenborg Palace (1982). Internationally, Hedemann exhibited in Norway, Sweden and Germany.

Hugo Hedemann died on 5th March 1995, aged 91.
