Preben Franck Stelvig (b.1942

Preben Franck Stelvig was born in Svendborg, Denmark on 3rd January 1942. He is a Danish artist and designer.

Stelvig attended the Painting School at AOF Nordsjælland, Holte (1961), a private art school (1962-64) where he studied under
Harry Viggo Tuxen (1898-1968) and Sven Hauptmann (1911-1984) and the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts (Det Kongelige Danske Kunstakademis) in Copenhagen (1968-74) where he studied under the Danish sculptor, painter, designer and architect Gunnar Aagaard-Andersen (1919-1982)

Stelvig first exhibited in 1964 at the annual KE (Kunstnernes Efterårsudstilling / Autumn Art Exhibition) in Copenhagen and has exhibited regularly ever since.

Notable exhibtions include Forårsudstilling (Spring Exhibition), Kunsthal Charlottenburg, Copenhagen (1968-1971), with the artist group 'Gruppe GYRR' (of which he was a co-founder) (1968-73), Lumley Cazalet Gallery, London (1972), 'Yngre da kunst' (Younger than art), Kunsthallen Nikolaj, Copenhagen (1974), 'Signaler', Hjørring Kunstmuseum (1976), Tel Aviv (1977), 'Origrafika', Malmö (1978), 'Grafikbien' Fredrikstad, Norway (1978), 'Ung Kunst', Kunsthal Charlottenburg, Copenhagen (1980), Galerie Helth, Copenhagen (1989 and 1994), Aalborg Historiske Museum, Aalborg (1991), Art House Odeon, Sag Harbor, New York (1992) and Galerie Art du Nord Vence, France (2007).

Preben Franck Stelvig currently lives and works in Copenhagen.
