Villy Emil Hansen 1936-1997

Villy Emil Hansen was born in Hørup on 20th February 1936. He was a Danish artist and designer.

Hansen attended the Odense Tekniske Skole (Odense Technical School) (1957-58) where he studied under the Danish painter Albert Elmstedt (1895-1976). Study trips include Bern (1960), Paris (1965 and 1978), Stockholm and Amsterdam (1970). Hansen married Inger Madsen in 1960.

Hansen first exhibited in 1961 at the Autumn Art Exhibition (Kunstnernes Efterårsudstilling), Kunsthal Charlottenburg, Copenhagen (1961-70). Other exhibitions include Kunstnernes Påskeudstilling (The Artists' Easter Exhibition) (1964-67) and Forårsudstilling (Spring Exhibition), Kunsthal Charlottenburg, Copenhagen (1966, 1975-77); Galleri Munch Christensen, Vejle (1967); ‘Poex-70’ - An arts festival took that place simultaneously in Copenhagen and Aarhus (1970); Oktoberudst, Vejle Kunstmuseum (1972-78); ‘Kunstnere for Fred’ (Artists for Peace), Kunsthal Charlottenburg, Copenhagen (1983); ‘Focus 4’, Gl. Holtegaard, Holte (1986); Galleri Olsen (1979); Galleriet på Slotsgrunden, Haderslev (1979); Galleri Jarly, Vejle (1980); Vejen Kunstmuseum (1981); Holbæk Museum (1981); Galleri Riis og Givskov, Horsens (1984); Tuborg Kunstforen (1984); Galleri Slugen, Esbjerg (1986); Franz Pedersens Kunsthal, Horsens (1987); Vejle Kunstforening (1987 and 1991); Billund Kunstforen (1990), Vejle Handelssk. 1991; Galleri Løwe, Fredericia, (1992) and Vejen Kunstmuseum (1993).

Villy Emil Hansen died on 12th July 1997, aged 61.
