David Bridgeman (b.1959

David Bridgeman was born in Oxford and grew up in the market town of Abingdon, on the outskirts of the city.

In 1987, Bridgeman moved to Grand Cayman in the British West Indies to take up a government teaching post in George town - This two year appointment ended up lasting eighteen years. In 2005 Bridgeman left full time teaching to pursue a career as an artist.

In 2014 he was given his first solo exhibition (The Road Not Taken) by the National Gallery of the Cayman Islands.

David's work is strongly autobiographical, containing elements from early childhood and teenage years which he spent 'immersed in the Oxfordshire landscape'. He has always been interested in maps, symbols and codes and is fascinated by the marks and scars human involvement leaves on our environment.
