Olle Rhönnstad 1931-1989

Sven Olof (Olle) Hasse Rhönnstad was born in Arvika on 20th November 1931. He was a Swedish painter.

Olle Rhönnstad was the son of artist Eric Rhönnstad (1909-1980) and Hilma Helena Dahlgreen. From an early age Rhönnstad painted with his father and his cousin, Thore Andersson (1919-2002), at home in Arvika. Rhönnstad attended the Kyrkeruds Aesthetic Folk High School (Kyrkeruds Estetiska Folkhögskola) in Arjang before studying at the Academy of Fine Art in Oslo (Kunstakademiet).

Rhönnstad had solo exhibitions in Avesta, Ludvika, Ornskoldsvik, Kristinehamn and Karlstad. Group exhibitions include Arvika Art Association, New Art Union Autumn Salon (1956 to 1975), Värmland artists at Gallery Gripen (1975) and the Liljevalchs Autumn Salon in 1985. Liljevalchs Konsthall is an art gallery (established in 1916) designed by architect Carl Bergsten located on the Djurgården island in Stockholm.

Rhönnstad was awarded a scolarship from the municipality of Karlstad in 1978, and New Art Association travel grant in 1987. Examples of his work are held in the collections of the Värmland, Karlstad, Östergötland and Arvika Museums

Olle Rhönnstad died on 1st November 1988, aged 57
